The Dale Stevens Critic’s Award is bestowed to regional filmmakers to honor the memory and spirit of the former Cincinnati Post entertainment editor Dale Stevens, who was instrumental in the founding of the Cincinnati Film Society in 1979. The cash award is presented annually to recognize Midwest filmmakers whose work(s) have not yet received major distribution.
Eligibility and Submission
Qualifying filmmakers are residents of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The project being submitted must not have at anytime had a major distribution deal. Films may be features or shorts of any genre. If submitting more than one film, a separate submission fee must be paid for each film.
Submission will include application with fee, submission form, 500 word bio, and film. Application fee is $35; which is a contribution to our youth education. Films must be submitted on Blu-Ray and DVD NTSC (please test before sending), or as an online screener. Please note: we do NOT screen films on HD-CAM or DCP.
